presentpicWe just celebrated Christmas and I found this poem that my son wrote when he was little.  It’s still a good reminder for today so here it is:

Christmas is fun in the snow.

But don’t the people know?

The only thing that really matters

Isn’t the turkey on the platters.

It isn’t the presents under the tree,

But it’s that Jesus came

For you and me.

A Christmas Poem

Candy Cane icon

My son wrote this Christmas poem when he was six years old.  I think you will enjoy it!

Look at the candy cane

What do you see?

Stripes that are red

Like His blood shed for me.

White is for my Savior

Who’s sinless and pure!

“J” is for Jesus my Lord,

That’s for sure!

Turn it around

And a staff you will see

Jesus my shepherd

Was born for me!

You’re Valuable

Drawing Marathon

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them,” (Ephesians 2:10 ESV).

The original Greek word used for workmanship here is poiema.  It means creation, what is made, masterpiece or work of art.  We get our word for poem from it.  Think about that.  If you were to write a poem, you would have a purpose in mind and use specific words to write something very meaningful.  You are God’s poem.

What about this?  Have you ever made a work of art?  Something that you made and enjoyed so much?  Or maybe your kids have made a work of art and they were so happy and proud to show you what they made.  And maybe you even displayed it on the refrigerator or on a shelf for everyone to see because it was so wonderful.  You are God’s work of art.

You are God’s creation.  Did you know that God made you?  He calls you a work of art, a masterpiece, His workmanship.  Wow!  And even if you don’t know it or don’t feel like it today, you are – yes, are – God’s workmanship.  He created you with value and a purpose and to know Him.  You can know that you are valuable today simply because God made you.

The band “mikeschair” says that you’re so valuable that you’re “Someone Worth Dying For.”  You can listen to their song here:

Chocolate Chip Cookies

It has come to my attention that this is National Poetry Month so in honor of that and the fact that I have learned that many of you, like myself, like chocolate chip cookies, I have written a poem for you, my readers.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Chocolate chip cookies are oh so sweet.

They are my favorite kind of cookies to eat.

I know about monster and sugar and all of the rest,

But I have to say that chocolate chip cookies are the best.

I watch warm chocolate chips melting into the dough

And when they come out of the oven I love them so.

Chocolate chip cookies are the best, but it’s okay if you don’t agree

Cuz if you don’t like them there will be more for me!
