Inseparable

holdinghandspicThe other day one of my Good News Club kids had a very good question.  She had heard someone say that God would leave her if she wasn’t good and she was confused because she had heard me say that God would never leave her after she received Jesus as her Savior, which she had chosen to do.  I was so glad that she asked because we always want to go to God’s Word for truth.  Anyone can say something wrong or make a mistake.  But not God’s Word.

So I showed her in the Bible where God said that He would never leave His children.  Hebrews 13:5 says, “God has said, ‘I will never leave you.  I will never desert you,'” (NIrV).  Then I showed her 1 John 1:9, “But God is faithful and fair.  If we admit that we have sinned, He will forgive us our sins.  He will forgive every wrong thing we have done.  He will make us pure,” (NIrV).

She was so sweet.  We were sitting on the floor in a small group and after we looked at these Scriptures she jumped up and said, “Thanks!  That’s all I needed to know!”

And you know what?  That’s a good thing for me to know, too.  To know that God will never leave me or desert me.  That when life is difficult, God is here.  And when life is great, God is here.  He is always with me.

BarlowGirl is one of my favorite bands.  I like their song, “Never Alone.”  I was thinking about that song today and the line, “We cannot separate.  You’re part of me.  And though You’re invisible I’ll trust the unseen.”  Enjoy the video of the song below.

Remember, if you have received Jesus as your Savior, God will never leave you.  You’re inseparable.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is a great day to remember that Jesus loves you!  Enjoy this song from Stellar Kart.

Just for fun, here is another video of Stellar Kart’s song, “Jesus Loves You.”  I don’t know who took this video, but I was there with my family!

Remember, regardless of whether you receive a valentine from someone or not today, God is thinking about you today and He loves you, which really is what matters the most.  Think about that.  We only spend a lot of time thinking about things that we care about.  And God, the God who created the whole world, is thinking about you – all the time!  Check out Psalm 139:17-18 and my post “Sandy Valentine” from the other day.  And know that Jesus loves you!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Sandy Valentine

sandheart1Have you ever played in the sand?  I have.  And it’s so much fun!

Sand is everywhere.  Our sandbox.  Our neighborhood park.  The beach, the oceans and deserts.

One of our favorite things to do when my kids were young was going to the park and playing in the sand.  As they grew older we could make the most amazing sand castle villages.  They were amazing!  When we were ready to go back home, we emptied our shoes and tried to brush off all those tiny little grains of sand.  And we never could get them all off.  We always seemed to bring home lots of those little grains of sand.

Have you ever tried to count those grains of sand?  How many could there be in one sandbox?  One playground?  One child’s shoe or even just stuck to one foot?  A lot!  Way more than I could ever count!  There was a man in the Bible who also knew that there is a lot of sand out there.  That man was David.  He wrote this in Psalm 139:17-18, “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.  When I awake, I am still with you” (NIV).

David knew that God was thinking about him even more times than the number of grains of sand on this whole earth.  Now that’s a lot of times!  Do you know what that means?  That means that God is thinking about each one of us all the time!  I like that because that means that God cares about us and He loves us.

I get to go speak to some elementary school children soon and when I asked God what He wanted me to tell them He said, “Tell them I love them.”  So I’m going to bring my sand and let them know how much God loves them.  Who knows?  Maybe they’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day with sand this year!

And the next time you see sand, remember – God is thinking about YOU!
